During January and February
Helping Hands has chosen to reach out to our church communities in a couple of ways for the next two months.
1. Hurricane Relief
For the next two months, January and February, designated congregational donations will be given to the Lutheran Disaster Response of the Carolinas.
LDR Carolinas
With relief work still ongoing following hurricane Helene, much is still needed to help the communities recover. ELCA is servicing multiple areas throughout the southeast. With your help, the HH committee will focus on the efforts in North Carolina.
2. Pillow Drive
We want to make another “Pillow Mountain” for Simple Needs. So, bring in those new pillows from now thru February. A simple pillow can offer so much comfort when you have so little. And Simple Needs is always running out of pillows as they help families get on their feet with simple household items.
3. Small Appliances
And if you happen to see or have some basic household appliances such as microwaves, toasters, irons, crockpots, toaster ovens, bring them in for Simple Needs.
Christ Lutheran Church’s next Blood Drive is Saturday February 1 at 10AM. If you are an eligible blood donor please sign up at www.redcrossblood.org refine the search to zip code 30084 and the date. The blood supply in the US has been negatively impacted by hurricanes, snowstorms, wildfires, and other disasters. But the demand for blood and blood products remains the same.
I donate because I have a unique opportunity to give a gift of life that benefits many in our community. I’m fortunate to have a blood type (O +) that can be used by many. And I never would want one of my loved ones to suffer from a shortage of blood in a critical situation. – Tom M.
If you are an eligible donor, help fight the shortage, sign up now to donate blood.
